Thrifting
I thrift.
A lot.
It brings me joy, Marie.
The Viking and I were sitting around our house the other day and we realized that the ONLY furniture we own that isn’t second hand is my desk and our bookshelves. Kitchen table and chairs? Bought from a friend. Matching couch, loveseat and chair with ottoman set? Craigslist. Bed frame and dressers? Friends, thrift store, facebook marketplace. Win win win. Half of the baby crap I have around my house is second hand. Why would I pay $40 for a diaper genie when I can get a used one for $5 and sanitize the (literal?) sh*t out of it.
Im actually a regular at a couple different thrift stores, and facebook marketplace is like thrifting from my phone.
I like to think of it as helping to save the planet by buying things second hand. Do you see me contributing clothing from forever 21 to landfill waste? I DON’T THINK SO. (I also use disposable diapers, so I mean I’m actually not that good of a person, sorry not sorry. Maybe sometime I’ll write an “unpopular opinion” post about why I think disposable diapers aren’t actually worse for the environment than cloth diapers… anywayyy….)
I also like to think of thrifting as a wayyy cheaper shopping addiction. You are welcome, husband.
Lastly, I think I’m cooler than other people because I thrift. obvs.
So if you want to save the planet and yo dollas, maintain your shopping addiction and your marriage at the same time AND be cooler than everyone else you should definitely take up thrifting. I will teach you how!
At some point in the future. Right now my baby is crying.
